Frugal Innovation Research Event (FIRE) Initiative

Need for higher education and transformative entrepreneurship

“The way to wealth is as plain as the way to market. It depends chiefly on two words, industry and frugality; that is, waste neither time nor money, but make the best use of both. Without industry and frugality nothing will do; with them, everything.

Benjamin Franklin

Mission Statement for FIRE Initiative

Our FIRE initiative aims to identify local challenges, examines contextual parameters, and detects existing innovation in low-resource settings. In bringing together students, young entrepreneurs, and scientists from low- and high-income countries in a co-creational space, potential solutions to the most pressing human challenges in the domain of water, energy, mobility, agriculture, urban living, and health will be co-developed. The program consists of workshop rounds, in which each round reflects an iterative step towards a prototype and intervention of an identified need or problem. With this program, we would like to allow students to co-create with and for their local communities in an unselfish way.

To introduce an idea one need to understand the problem. Using a design-thinking process will support interdisciplinary thinking for students.

We invite you to collaborate with us.
